My wife is a ‘lion’, says hubby

Cr5Court Reporter
A Harare man told the court Thursday that his fear for his wife is more than 10 times than he has for a lion because of the abuse he is suffering at her hands each time he arrives home from somewhere.Lloyd Chisekwa was testifying at the Harare Civil Courts where he was brought by his wife Chipo Mangwiro who was seeking a protection order against him.

“Your worship, the problem started two years ago after I met her while I was in the company of a girlfriend, he said.  I apologised to her after realising we have to move on, but deep inside her heart she did not forgive me.

“She became violent from that day to the extent of assaulting my mother whom she accused of bewitching her.  She has locked me out of our Mbare residence and our rural homestead.

“I am a destitute now and sleeping at our neighbour’s place in the rural areas because she brought the keys to Harare. I am pleading with the court to assist me from her violent behaviour because whenever I think of going to where she is, it is like I will be going to see a lion.”
Chisekwa pleaded with the court to bar his wife from assaulting him when he pays her a visit.

But Chipo told the court that she was seeking a protection order because he was chasing her from their Mbare residence.
“I applied for maintenance at the courts and won, but he started threatening me with unspecified action,” she said.

“He assaulted our children after accusing them of being responsible for  the maintenance case. I am not living  in peace because he wants me out of our matrimonial home.”

Upon being asked why she came to Harare with the keys for their rural home, Chipo said she hid the keys at a place within the homestead and was going to tell him where to get them.

Magistrate Ms Rebecca Kavhiya gave a reciprocal protection order to the couple and said they should not physically and verbally abuse each other.
