Muzarabani councillors purchase motorcycles

At least 29 councillors from Muzarabani district this week received motorcycles in a bid to curtail mobility challenges.

The development comes after councillors forfeited their allowances to raise money for the purchase of the motorcycles, Muzarabani district information officer Mr Godfrey Chireru said.

“Councillors in Muzarabani have been facing a lot of challenges to execute their duties due to transport challenges, some were forced to travel long distances on foot to attend meetings for long hours, therefore, the councilors converted their allowances and made some contributions for the purchase of the motorcycles,” he said.

“This development is very welcome given how the mobility issue was negatively affecting the development agenda in this district. Muzarabani’s road network is not that easily accessible and transport is rarely convenient, hence these motorcycle will go a long way to bridge the challenges that have so far seen progress being drawn back.”
