Murder suspects arrested during cleansing ceremony

FOUR suspects who allegedly stabbed to death a man at a nightclub in Silobela, Midlands Province were arrested on Sunday at a traditional healer’s house in Kwekwe where they had gone for a cleansing ceremony.

The suspects had allegedly stabbed Ernest Moyo (28) all over the body following an argument over an undisclosed issue last Friday.

Moyo died on the spot and a report was made to the police who conducted investigations.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrests yesterday.

“On December 3, 2023 detectives from CID Kwekwe acted on received information and arrested Learnmore Chiribani aged 28, Archford Dube aged 20, Marshal Chuma aged 19 and Marvellous Kuchicha aged 19 at a witchdoctor’s house in Mbizo, Kwekwe where they had gone for a cleansing ceremony following a murder case which occurred at a night club in Silobela on December 1, 2023 in which Ernest Moyo aged 28 died after being stabbed with knives indiscriminately over an undisclosed issue,” he said.

“The arrest of the four suspects led to the recovery of a Columbian knife, a VI pin stainless steel kitchen knife and an okapi knife which were stashed in a plastic bag under a block brick behind the witchdoctor’s house.”
