Former Cabinet Minister Prisca Mupfumira today committed her sister’s house in one of Harare’s leafy suburbs as surety during her application for the temporary release of her passport to travel to the United Kingdom next week.

Mupfumira pledged her sister’s Westgate house as surety to the court for the temporary release of her passport to allow her to travel to the United Kingdom to visit her ill brother.

Through lawyer Mr Admire Rubaya, Mupfumira said she will return to court to clear her name on corruption related charges.

Prosecutors Mr Whisper Mabhaudi and Mr Loveit  Masuku opposed the application saying Mupfumira was a flight risk considering that they had made much progress on her trial.

Mupfumira said she wanted to travel on December 8 and return on January 8 next year.

Harare regional magistrate Mr Stanford Mambanje is expected to make a ruling this afternoon.
