Mum seeks help for sick child

A six-year-old boy, Walter Dauda, is in urgent need of $20 000 to undergo an operation at a local hospital.

He suffers from vascular malformation, a condition that occurs in congenital vascular anomalies of veins, lymph vessels or both. The vascular malformations are usually present at birth, grow proportionally with the child, do not expand rapidly during infancy, and do not disappear.

Tumours on the side of Walter’s neck and arm and an abnormally big right hand are making it difficult for him to write and dress up. The condition causes him a lot of pain and prevents him from socialising with other children of his age.

His mother, Ms Thabeth Maphako, said her son was in dire need of an urgent operation.

She said since the age of three months, Walter has undergone three procedures, but the growths continued to resurface in different parts of his body.

Well-wishers can call Ms Maphako on 0772519004 or 0777279740, or visit house number 24068 East View Park, Caledonia, in Harare.

In a related development, a 49-year-old Mufakose woman is appealing for assistance t to undergo a skin grafting procedure. Ms Emaly Nyoni (pictured below) was diagnosed with a growth in her mouth last year and underwent an operation to remove it, but the procedure left part of her right cheek open, leaving her teeth exposed.

She was supposed to have undergone surgery at Harare Central Hospital on December 2, but failed to raise $10 200 for the procedure.

Those willing to assist can contact her on 0777 155723.
