THEATRE and television actor Silvanos Mudzvova (pictured) was at the weekend attacked on his way home by muggers at Copacabana terminus, along Chinhoyi Street in Harare.Mudzvova was left unconscious after he sustained head and leg injuries. The muggers made off with his laptop, wallet and a smartphone worth US$700. The seasoned actor was taken to Parirenyatwa Hospital where he is recuperating.

“He is recovering well but is complaining of leg injuries. For those who want to visit him at the hospital he is in Ward B9 bed 19. I was with him yesterday (Tuesday) but I think he is getting better now,” Daves Guzha, the producer of Rooftop Promotions, said.

The attack came months after Mudzvova featured in a Rooftop Promotions play called “Chipo and Farai in Love” in which he starred as Darlington Zimuto. The three-hander, written by veteran playwright Stephen Chifunyise and directed by Guzha, also featured Harare top model Nyaradzo Nhongonhema and Dereck Nziyakwi.

The play, which premiered to critical acclaim at Old Mutual Theatre, Alliance Française, is about two university students whose relationship is challenged by the past.

Chipo, played by Nyaradzo, is a traditional girl who believes that “virginity is dignity” and revolves around her ability to abstain from sex.

She, however, faces myriad challenges among them peer pressure and sex talk everywhere. How Chipo overcomes all these pressures is the focal point of the play as true love is being put to test.

On the other hand, Zimuto (Mudzvova) is a filthy rich businessman who uses his wealth to win any woman he likes but he tries in vain to win Chipo’s heart.
