CONSTRUCTION of Muchinjike Clinic in ward 4, Murehwa district, which is being funded by Constituency Development Fund (CDF) is now 95 percent complete, with the health facility expected to be opened to the public soon.

Completion of this clinic will reduce the 10km journey currently walked by people to Murehwa district hospital at Murehwa centre.

The whole structure is complete and when The Herald visited the site last week, workers were busy putting floor tiles.

MP for Murehwa North constituency Cde Daniel Garwe (Zanu PF) recently visited the construction site to assess progress. Speaking to the media during the visit, Cde Garwe said it was his wish to see the clinic opened to the public as soon as possible.

He said everything needed for the clinic to function was there, including adequate medicines.

Cde Garwe added that a solar powered borehole would be installed to provide water to the whole clinic and the community.

“We decided to channel CDF funds towards construction of this clinic so that people from this side would not travel for long distances seeking health care. We have the old and the young ones who cannot walk for long distances to the next clinic.

“This clinic will have a mothers’ shelter. We cannot have expecting mothers walking for 10km to Murehwa district hospital, that should be history. We have already sourced an ambulance that will be stationed at this clinic, for emergency cases.

“We also sourced every equipment needed in a health facility so as soon as construction is finished, there is nothing to stop it from being opened.

“I want to thank President Mnangagwa for ensuring CDF is available. Look now we have a clinic in this area and people are happy. This is only possible because of the Second Republic under our listening President,” Cde Garwe said. Mrs Rufaro Nhira thanked MP Garwe for putting CDF funds towards improving service delivery to ward 4.

“Thank you Government for availing CDF funds which have been used in the construction of this clinic in Ward 4. A lot of people in surrounding villages have been walking for close to 10km to Murehwa district hospital at Murehwa centre, while some would walk for about 6 km to the next clinic in a nearby ward.

“We pray that the clinic is completed soon so that this burden of walking for long distances is lessened. We are thankful to our MP Cde Daniel Garwe who made sure this clinic is built.

“I also want to thank President Mnangagwa for his commitment to ensure our lives here in the rural areas are improved. We heard that Government will swiftly intervene on the issue of prices hikes of basics. This is a welcome move because we are now suffering.”

Another resident from Muchinjike Mrs Monica Munemo said Government should be commended for bringing critical services closer to the people.

“I am so excited. This area had no clinic for a long time and now we have one just close to our homes. Imagine you are sick and walking to Murehwa centre from this village.

Mr Phillip Kanyama said building a clinic in Muchinjike was a step in the right direction.

“We thank you Government through MP Garwe for ensuring that a clinic was built in our area. We also as parents, contributed with labour and other resources like water and sand for the construction to be done smoothly and quickly.

“Now our clinic is almost complete, this is commendable,” he said.

Government is on a vigorous drive to improve health delivery across the country and President Mnangagwa has said his administration will bring critical services closer to the people.
