The Zanu-PF Youth League national leadership, which recently held a highly subscribed National Youth Convention addressed by President Mnangagwa, will spread the initiative to Zimbabwe’s regions. The three regional youth conventions are expected to culminate in the party’s Youth League holding a major convention in Harare where thousands of members will attend.

In an interview, Zanu-PF national secretary for Youth Affairs Cde Pupurai Togarepi said the regional conventions were a culmination of successful programmes held to drum up support for President Mnangagwa ahead of the July 30 harmonised elections.

“We started these with the launch of the #edhasmyvote campaign in Harare, which we subsequently spread to the province, district and ward levels,” he said.

“After the campaign, we resolved to bring the President to meet the youths at the National Convention that was held successfully in Gweru to see how the youths are responding to our calls.”

Cde Togarepi said the programme would now cascade to various regional conventions and national assemblies to be held across the country.

“We are looking forward to hold another huge convention in Harare before the harmonised elections where we hope all the youths will attend to show their solidarity with the party President and First Secretary,” he said.
In a circular to national executive members, the Zanu-PF Youth League national political commissar, Cde Godfrey

Tsenengamu, said the regional conferences would be in Chivhu, Murombedzi and Bulawayo.
“Please take note that after the successful hosting of the inaugural National Youth Convention in Gweru, we shall be hosting three more regional conventions before we host the final one and the ‘Mother of all Conventions’ in Harare,” he said.

According to the communication, the Eastern Region Youth Convention to cover Mashonaland East, Manicaland, Masvingo and part of Midlands provinces, will be held in Chivhu on Saturday.

The Northern Region Youth Convention covering Mashonaland Central, Mashonaland West, Harare and part of Midlands provinces will be held at Murombedzi on Wednesday next week.

Bulawayo will host the Southern Region Youth Convention which will cover Bulawayo, Matabeleland South, Matabeleland North and some parts of the Midlands province on Saturday next week.

Cde Tsenengamu called on all departments to ensure that the events were successful.
