Three more Alpha Omega Dairy employees appeared in court on Thursday for allegedly stealing dairy products worth $704. The appearance of truck driver Jacob Musasa (42), sales representative Kenneth Mugabe (40) and assistant sales representative Abel Mutongerwa (33) brought the number of workers so far brought before the courts to 14.

The three were charged with theft when they appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Elijah Makomo.

They were granted $50 bail each and remanded to February 3.

Mkululi Nyoni, the head of security at Alpha Omega Dairy, is the complainant in the matter.

Allegations are that sometime in December last year, Nyoni received information to the effect that the three were conniving and stealing stocks from Alpha Omega Depot in Mazowe with other 10 accused already on bail.

The court heard that Mugabe, Musasa and Mutongerwa would steal the products, sell them and share the proceeds.

It is the State’s case that acting on a tip-off, Nyoni and his assistant Oren Hove, went to the firm’s Harare depot and discovered variances in stock listed in the system and the actual stock at hand.

The State said on December 20, the trio using the same tricks, loaded the goods and dispatched a truck to Harare depot.

The truck was being driven by Mugabe.

On arrival, it is alleged that Nyoni supervised the offloading of the truck and discovered that the truck was loaded with extra goods, leading to the arrest of the three.
