Midlands State University (MSU) student Maitaishe Kainga will represent Zimbabwe at the forthcoming Miss Universities Africa pageant to be held in December in Nigeria.

The 23-year-old model will showcase her expertise on the ramp with 53 other beauties to battle for the much coveted crown. In an interview Kainga said she was excited and humbled to represent the nation at the prestigious event.

“It is really a great honour to represent my nation at the continental pageant. I thank the facilitators for choosing me,” she said. She appealed to all Zimbabweans to support her by voting for her through social media.

“I am kindly asking for your support my fellow Zimbabweans by liking my picture on a facebook and instagram link for Miss University Africa. I am also doing other necessary preparations to ensure that I don’t come back home empty handed,” she said.

Miss University Africa license holder Ebby Mazibuko said she chose Kainga after observing how she had positively impacted the society.

“I have looked around university models with accolades in the modelling sector with advice from former university models and Kainga has achieved a lot in her career,” he said. The 23 year old who is currently studying towards a bachelor of commerce in Economics was Miss Zimbabwe People’s Choice in 2014 and Miss MSU 2014.

She was also Miss 21st Movement 2015 and Miss Africa Zimbabwe 2016 among many other titles. Mazibuko, a former director of Miss Universities Zimbabwe said the models will get in boot camp in November.

Miss University Africa was established in 2010 as a non bikini pageant aimed at discouraging indecent dressing, empower women and promote unity and diversity and tourism in Africa.
