Preparations are at an advanced stage ahead of the inaugural Miss India-Zimbabwe scheduled for December 10 at the Meikles Hotel in Harare.

The pageant is non-racial and its main aim is to empower young women to be responsive to challenges they may face in society.

“It also highlights the importance of recognising talent and empowering young women in our society to become more aware and responsive to challenges they face in society. The winner will travel abroad to participate in the international pageant, Miss India Worldwide, to be held in New York, in the United States,” said Ms Rhea Babbar, one of the organisers.

“This pageant is not racially exclusive and it entails etiquette training, fashion and dress sense, deportment, speech and eloquence training including most importantly confidence building,” she added. It is divided into two categories for participants to choose from, with category A being for the young single ladies aged between 17 and 25 years whilst category B caters for the mature and women who have an interest in the world of fashion and beauty,” she said adding that the pageant has acquired a number of sponsors with the title sponsor being Leopard Rock Hotel in the Eastern Highlands.
