The country’s representative at the Miss Earth pageant, Sandiswe Bhule, who is in the Philippines for the international final is confident she will bring the title home. The final takes place on November 29 in Manila.

The 25-year-old, who arrived in the Asian country on Monday for a three-week boot camp together with 99 other beauties from across the globe, said she will do her best to represent the country.

Her manager and local pageant director, Thandi Muringa, said the beauty queen is optimistic.

“Our representative is now settled and has been busy with camp activities. The 100 ladies had a Press conference and have also had their swim suit photo shoots among other presentations,” she said.

She added that spirits were high in the Miss Earth Zimbabwe camp as Bhule has been excelling in a number of tasks.

On Tuesday, the girls were devided into regional groups and were tasked to make presentations in environmental competitions.

Of the regions Africa came tops against Asia, Americas and Europe and took a gold medal.

Bhule also won a bronze medal in her group of 22 for showing knowledge in teaching children on the environment at a Philippines school on Wednesday, according the pageant’s official Facebook page.

Hopes are on the Bulawayo-born beauty to continue to fly the country’s flag high at the international forum.

Her profile on the official Miss Earth website portrays a knowledgeable and strong-willed youth, describing Zimbabwe as an all-round beautiful country with the perfect climate.

She said the country takes pride in being one of the six African countries that are home to the big five.

“Our many tourist attractions are a part of our strong history and heritage as each of them tells a story. Two of these tourist attractions are the Victoria Falls, which is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, and Kariba Dam, which is one of the largest man-made lakes in the world.

“Our savanna grasslands, abundance of wildlife and comfortable climate make Zimbabwe an ideal destination for holidays, safari tours and hunting. There are over 30 national parks, conservancies and safaris where one can enjoy the incredible fauna and flora,” she said.

Miss Earth is one the four largest and most famous female international beauty pageants dubbed The Big Four. The other ones are Miss World, Miss Universe and Miss International.
