Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Misheck Sibanda, yesterday invited Cabinet ministers who failed to attend yesterday’s briefing session due to commitments at Parliament, to join the session for Ministers of State today at Munhumutapa Building.

In a statement, Dr Sibanda said today’s meeting starts at 10am.

“The Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Misheck Sibanda wishes to advise all Cabinet Ministers who failed to attend the Briefing Session scheduled for the 11th of September 2018 (yesterday), owing to some commitments at Parliament, that they are kindly requested to join the session for the Ministers of State at 10:00am on Wednesday 12th September 2018 at the Munhumutapa Building (2nd Floor, New Munhumutapa Boardroom),” he said.

Parliament spent a good part of yesterday holding elections for the positions of Speaker of the National Assembly, Senate President and their deputies.

Advocate Jacob Mudenda was re-elected Speaker for the National Assembly and is deputised by Cde Tsitsi Gezi, both from zanu-pf.

The ruling party enjoys over two-thirds majority in Parliament.

In Senate, zanu-pf’s Cde Marble Chinomona was elected president after beating the MDC-Alliance’s Mr Morgan Komichi.

The election paved way to the First Session of the Ninth Parliament to be officially opened by President Mnangagwa on September 25.
