Former zanu-pf Harare provincial chairman and Cabinet Minister Cde Amos Midzi, who died on Monday will be buried tomorrow at Glen Forest Memorial Park.

Family spokesperson Dr Stanley Midzi, said they would not wait for toxicology analysis results that he said might take more than two weeks to be released.

“Toxicology analysis results are now inconsequential to our plans because we are going ahead with our burial arrangements on Saturday,” he said.

“As I said before, he (Cde Midzi) was our hero so we are going to give him a befitting burial.”

Dr Midzi said they were not aware if zanu-p was planning to accord him hero status adding that party plans were not going to stop family plans.

“My brother was a politician, but as a family we are not politicians, so we do not know how the process of according hero status is done,” he said.

“We are going ahead with our plans and tomorrow, we will take his body from the funeral parlour at 2pm.

“It will lie in state at home, and on Saturday, we will take it for burial.”

This comes at a time when members of the ousted Dr Joice Mujuru cabal, decided to mourn more than the bereaved claiming they would not rule out foul play in Cde Midzi’s death until the police released a comprehensive report ascertaining his death.

Self-imposed spokesperson of the cabal Mr Rugare Gumbo said: “With these kinds of deaths and accidents, you cannot make a conclusion until the police give a detailed report.

“You cannot rule out foul play until it is established that he died in this manner or that manner.

“Evidence that he might have been poisoned is there, but we want to know if he poisoned himself or someone poisoned him.”

Mr Gumbo said in South American countries such as Mexico, people were forced to drink poison at gunpoint as a way of destroying any evidence of murder.

Cde Midzi was found dead in his car at his Munandi Farm in Beatrice.

Police recovered a cup containing a bluish liquid from the car and a one litre bottle of poisonous methamidophos and sleeping tablets.
