PHENOMENAL!

This aptly sums up Mathias Mhere’s new journey in his quest for powerful spiritual transformation and to redeem lost souls back to Christ through gospel music.

The Saints of God leader showed his intentions last Friday at Rainbow Towers, Harare, where he successfully launched his 11th album, “Akati Anesu”.

Laden with spiritually uplifting songs, Mhere preaches the eternal gospel of having faith in God, forgiveness, love, thanksgiving, and boldness.

The 36-year-old, who pocketed over USD$20 000 through album bids at the launch, was humbled by fans’ loyalty in his 13-year journey in music.

Besides being an executive launch, the event culminated in a show with some fans being turned away.

For poor judgment of his pulling power, Mhere had himself to blame.

“I should have found a bigger place than this because our venue was too small.

“Of course, it was supposed to be a corporate launch, but fans turned up in their numbers after the massive media coverage we got. I can only be grateful to God for the love he showed me today and this will give me strength for years to come in my spiritual transition,” conceded Mhere.

In his new chapter of God’s fulfilment, Mhere who now owns Soft Touch Studios, delivered a well-knit track album set to leave many yearning for paradise.

On this album, Mhere roped in four producers — Lyton Ngolomi, Golden Fingers, Rodney, and KB House — in his quest for quality.

His move paid off as the quartet complemented him with their expertise.

Ngolomi, who has produced Mhere from day one, contributed five songs namely “Dzvanya”, “I’m a Winner”, “Tumai Kubwinya”, “Munda Wamambo” and “Cheziya”.

Mhere showed his faith in Golden Fingers with six songs, including “Forgive and Forget”, “My Testimony”, “Grass to Grace”, “Dzatigere Nadzo”, “Nenyasha” featuring Mary Anibal, and “Tongai Mambo”.

Rodney contributed one song “Ndini Here?” while KB Studios’ two tracks — “Zverudzi Urwu” and “Tichamuona” — make the album complete.

He also dropped four videos of “Forgive and Forget”, “Dzvanya”, “My Testimony” and Grass to Grace”.

In a true spirit of friendship with creatives in other arts disciplines, Mhere’s album launch attracted showbiz influencers.

Born again singer Baba Harare blessed the event by singing the popular hymn “Ndinoshamiswa Kwazvo”, much to the delight of fans.

Comedienne Felistas “Mai TT” Murata showed her versatility by warming up the stage as she belted out the song “Canaan” with finesse.

Dorcas Moyo travelled from Mutare to grace the launch.

Jazz crooner Victor Kunonga, Clive “Mono” Mukundu”, Prophet Tapiwa Freddy, Mbeu, Andy Muridzo, Voltz JT, Enock Chisale, and Derrick Mpofu are some of the notable artistes who graced the  event.

Chinhoyi-based social worker Thomas Chidzomba gifted Mhere with US$10 000 cash.

Baba Harare was given the task of counting the money in front of guests and it equalled the figure.

A true friend to Mhere, Chidzomba said he was humbled by the gospel sensation’s endorsement.

“It is quite an honour to be given this task of guest of honour when Mathias Mhere could have settled for big names.

“I have known him for years as a friend but never imagined that one day I would be here as one of his special guests.

“We advise him to keep working hard so that he continues touching the hearts of many,” said the philanthropist.

Mhere’s childhood friend, Tapiwa Takavarasha, bought the album for US$1 900 and pledged more.

Takavarasha, who is a car dealer, hailed Mhere for his consistency.

“I have known Mhere as a friend for years and I am glad he has never changed being a Christian.

“I salute him for being consistent, creative, and always believing in God.

“This has made him the star he is today.  I am happy for him because he is bringing people together for a good cause — worshipping the Lord under one roof,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mhere’s management led by sisters — Mary and Martha Anibal — silenced all the doubting Thomas Thomases that women can also occupy leadership  positions.

The event was flawless from start to finish.

The stage mounting, lighting, and sound were superb.

Well-groomed ushers made guests feel at home.

The security manning the venue performed to expectations and avoid a stampede.

In short, Mhere’s quest for total fulfilment in serving the Lord came to pass.
