Gospel musician, Mathias Mhere says his recent tour to Canada has made opportunities for him in his musical career and growth as a musician.

Mhere thrilled gospel fans in Canada when he performed at a capacity crowd at Clareview Headstart Centre in Edmonton on June 24 and in Calgary on July 2.

Together with other local musicians, Bethany Pasinawako, Nashie Tamara Boyes, and Sharon Manyonganise, the diminutive musician showcased his good artwork to an appreciative crowd that had travelled long distances to attend the African Mega Gospel Show.

Determined to impress discerning gospel lovers, Mhere and the other three gave a good account of themselves, on both shows which were well attended.

In an interview over the weekend, Mhere said the tour gave him the much needed exposure to take his musical career to another level, while looking at other opportunities.

“The Canada tour is an important step in my musical path. We made good networks, shared information and learnt from the best in the gospel genre.

“It also gave us any opportunity to review and reflect on our musical products and how best we can improve on everything. It is important to have a product that cuts across, and can appeal to everyone, across borders,” he said.

The musician has since started working on videos on several songs from his latest album, “Old Testament”. Work has already begun on shooting the videos for a number of tracks such as “Nyasha Ndini,” “Judas Iscariot,” “Vana VaJesu,” “Error” and “Dhindindi Full Time”.

“We are hoping to launch the album in August before we embark on several regional tours to promote and push our brand” he said.

Having performed well in Canada, the diminutive gospel artiste now wants to continue raising the bar.

“We have strengthened our resolution to better our brand, and explore new territories,” he said.

Mhere, who rose to fame with his second album “Anoita Minana” that had the track “Favour”, is no stranger to live performances, having played at various local and international platforms, where he has proved to be capable.
