Gospel musician Mathias Mhere is optimistic about his new album “New Testament” that will be launched at 7 Arts Theatre, Avondale in March.

Mhere, who rose to fame with his second album “Anoita Minana” that had the track “Favour”, said he had laid the ground work for the new album that is set to thrill the gospel market.

Some of the songs to feature on the album are “Error”, “Dhindindi Full Time”, “Nhamo Yekuzvipa”, “Nyasha Ndini”, “Mazuva Matatu” and “ByeBye” and “Vana VaJesu” that features Mkululi Bhebhe.

He has engaged the services of producer Laiton Ngolomi on the project.

The two clashed before prompting the young musician to engage the services of Charles Ayibeki and one Makumbe as producers of his last two albums.

“We had differences yes but we managed to bury them and move forward.

“I think he has done the best to come up with a good album. Ngolomi is a very talented producer I have worked with for a long time and he has been very instrumental in my career,” he said.

Bethany Pasinawako will be on the backing vocals while another renowned musician is tipped to feature in of the songs.

“I can’t reveal the name now but there we will have a track with one of the top musicians in the country,” he said.

At the launch several gospel musicians that include Rev Chivaviro, Fungisai Mashavave-Zvakavapano, Sebastain Magacha and Mechanic Manyeruke are expected to perform.

“All the artistes have confirmed their participation at the launch.

“We are working to have a show that gives people value for their money as well as preaching the word,” he said.

Mhere first recorded an album titled Tinoda Nyasha in 2008 but failed to make an impact on the local market.

He found his glory in 2012 with album “Anoita Minana” followed by “Nguva Yenyasha,” that was released in 2013.

Meanwhile The Zimbabwe Red Cross Society humanitarian ambassador and top sungura musician Alick Macheso returns from a two week break tonight when he performs at Warren Park Bar together with Freeman.

Macheso through his publicist Tich Makahamadze said they will sample new songs to be released in the first quarter of the year.

“That was a break for shows but rehearsals were in progress and the new songs are there, those who will come for tonight’s show will enjoy new music from the Orchestra Mberikwazvo,” he said.

He said they were targeting the first quarter of the year for the release of their album that will be recorded at Alema Studios in Chitungwiza.
