UPCOMING bodybuilder Tapiwa Mhasvi got a lifetime opportunity to represent the country at this year’s edition of the International Champions Bodybuilding Cup Expo in Birmingham, England, in May. Mhasvi, a fitness and bodybuilding enthusiast, will write his own piece of history by becoming the first Zimbabwean Bodypower Ambassador to represent the country at such a level of competition after he was appointed the ambassador two years ago.
Focusing on athletes born after 1992, the World Amateur Bodybuilding Association (WABBA) will sponsor the Expo which will see athletes from across the globe taking part.
and Mhasvi is taking the opportunity seriously and looks forward to excel at the Expo.
“I am not going back on training and if everything goes according to plan and if I manage to secure the visa in time, I will leave the country on May 11 and return home on May 14.
“I still have some few challenges concerning the visa but that is not affecting my preparations as I am positive that this year I will make it. This will be my third time trying to take part in the contest but in the past we would delay our preparations but this time I am hopeful that we have ample time to prepare for all what is required. “My aim is to put Zimbabwe on the world map and make sure that bodybuilding is taken seriously from all age-groups. Since I started back in 2012 I saw that it is not easy to be a complete athlete but I am getting there with the support from my family,” said Mhasvi.
Mhasvi has been competing at some big stages having taken part in the 2016 Mr Ironman and came out fourth, he did not give up and last year was part of the Mr Zimbabwe contest where he finished in the top 10.
The athlete is hopeful the expo will be good for himself and the country as his participation will help the country to be an affiliate of WABBA which we are not at the moment.
“This will be an opportunity to showcase to the world that the country has got talent and we are working hard to prove that. I have always been an admirer of bodybuilding since high school where I used to pay rugby.
