Genomic Medical Centre was today fined $25 000 by a Harare magistrate for offering Covid-19 tests in Harare without an operating licence.

The medical institution, which was represented by Svitsai Chagonda, was fined when it appeared before magistrate Tafadzwa Miti.

Genomic Medical Centre also risks losing property if it fails to pay the fine on or before October 30 this year.

The medical institution was being charged with operating an unregistered health institution.

Genomic Medical Centre was taken to court after one of its employees was spotted by a compliance officer from Health Professionals Authority of Zimbabwe taking samples at Road Port Bus Terminus in Harare’s city centre on September 22.

Mrs Polite Chikiwa appeared for the State.
