Rising afro-fusion musician Ashton ‘Mbeu’ Nyahora  will tonight return to Mutare’s Club Mandisa for the first time this year. The musician, who has been travelling around the country mostly as Jah Prayzah’s opening act, will headline the show that will also see the club’s raunchy dancers Mandisa Queens performing.

Mbeu’s manager, Eugene Museredza, said the show was a response to their Manicaland fans’ persistent calls for a repeat performance. “We are very excited to be going back to Mutare, performing there for the first time this year.

“Our fans have been constantly calling for a chance to see Mbeu and  The Mhodzi Tribe on stage, so we decided to grant them their wish,” he said.

Museredza said they have “cooked up” something special for the show.

“We will play some of our new songs that will be part of our upcoming album scheduled for release mid-year. It’s going to be experimental and fun,” he said.

Mbeu, a protégé of the late music icon Oliver Mtukudzi, has been giving scintillating performances earning him the right to be named torch-bearer of his mentor by music lovers.

His career has progressed well, with his main strength being live shows he stages backed by his band the Mhodzi Tribe.

“We have not staged many performances since Oliver Mtukudzi’s death.

“It feels like we are cattle without a headman as we have lost our compass, someone who would tell us how to navigate the terrain and rebuke us whenever we were lost,” said Museredza.
