RUGBY is proving to become a popular sport in most high density and rural schools if the numbers at this year’s Dairibord Rugby Schools Festival are anything to go by. Yesterday, Mbare High beat Queen Elizabeth 10-0. This year’s edition of the Dairibord Rugby Schools Festival has also seen an increase in the number of the rural schools as well.

Queen Elizabeth coach Tafadzwa Murisa said they were caught by surprise by their opponents but believes they will bounce back in their next game.

“We made a mistake and they managed to fix us. The game was competitive and I believe my girls could not open them at the back. We tried our best but they were on top and I believe the sport is developing everywhere, whether be it in the high density or low density areas.’’

Dairibord has attracted schools like Sahumani from Chipinge.
Other schools who are making an impact at the festival include Mazowe, Chindunduma, St Paul’s Musami, Chipindura, among others. The games continue this morning with several high-profile matches that include Hillcrest battle against St John’s College as well as St George’s clash against Churchill in the last game of the day.
