Central Committee member, Cde Caroline Mazvovere has been declared a provincial heroine.

Cde Mazvovere, who succumbed to lung and heart complications while in South Africa last Friday, will be buried at the provincial heroes’ acre on Friday.

Zanu-PF provincial spokesperson Cornelious Mpereri confirmed the development.

“We want to thank His Excellency President Mnangagwa for conferring the late Cde Mazvovere a provincial heroine status. As a province we feel this is a befitting status to a hardworking cadre who helped shape the party in the province,” said Cde Mpereri.

He said the body of the former deputy secretary for information communication technology is expected in the country today.

“We are expecting her body to arrive in the country on Thursday with burial set for Friday at the provincial heroes’ acre in Gweru,” he said.

On Sunday, First Lady Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa paid her condolences on behalf of the First Family and described the war heroine as a lady who helped shape her political career.

Born on December 7, 1959, Cde Mazvovere played a key role in the liberation struggle.

She is survived by her husband, five children and 10 grandchildren.
