Masvingo City Council has successfully furnished one of the houses at Chambuta Children’s Home in Chiredzi that accommodates former street children who were rescued by First Lady Amai Auxilia Mnangagwa.

Amai Mnangagwa, through her Angel of Hope Foundation, rescued street children from places like Harare and other cities and took them to Chambuta Children’s Home where they are being taught life-changing skills and are going to school.

The First Lady also rallied corporates and other organisations across the country to help in moulding the former street children so that they fully develop their talents like other normal children.

Masvingo City adopted one of the houses at Chambuta which is furnished and is maintained after the challenge from the First Lady.

Mayor Councillor Collins Maboke today said the upgraded house will be commissioned together with others by Amai Mnangagwa next week.

Mayor Maboke said besides the general facelift of the house by repainting, the local authority had also bought new furniture including chairs, tables and beds for use by children at Chambuta.

He added that his local authority will continue maintaining the house to make sure children who stay there live comfortably while pursuing their dreams.

Most local authorities across the country have adopted homes at Chambuta after being inspired by the First Lady’s philanthropic work.
