TAKUDZWA Masiwa was crowned the inaugural Mr Schools Mufakose bodybuilding champion at a contest held at Mufakose High One.

Masiwa was excited to win the contest that had a good turnout. The event was hosted by Mufakose Community Gym in partnership with Mufakose High One.

“I am very happy to win the contest and I am looking forward to taking up bodybuilding as a profession. I get inspiration from some athletes who hailed from Mufakose and made names for themselves in international contests.

“The competition was tough, and I am grateful to the judges and organisers who have managed to bring the contests which help youths to stay away from drugs,” said Masiwa.

Masiwa beat Munyaradzi Nyikadzino from Mhuriimwe High School to second place. Cloud Andrea, also from Mhuriimwe High School, was third.

Nyikadzino, however, turned the tables against Masiwa in the men’s physique, which he won.

Miss Schools 2023 was won by Nicole Chiyangwa of Mufakose High One who beat schoolmate Panashe Mhaka to second place as Natally Manyunga was third.

Pauline Uzande was voted the people’s choice with Manyunga winning the Miss Personality.

Clifford Chibhamu was crowned Mr Fitness and Victor Dzangedza was the first runner-up.

Tendayi Mukariri, the event organiser, was delighted to have hosted the first ever Mr Schools Mufakose which got overwhelming support from the community.

“We are happy that we successfully hosted the Mr and Ms Schools Mufakose which got so much support from locals. The idea was to spread the no-drugs campaign and we managed to do that as kids are going for school holidays.

“We are grateful to some of the corporates who came on board and supported us. We had partners in RM Plumbing World, Vivon, Eversharp, Rimzy Hardware and Apostle Rose from a church in Mufakose, among others,” said Mukariri.
