Breaking onto the international music scene has not been easy for many upcoming young musicians.

Many struggle to find their feet on the local market, making their entry into the regional and international market a mammoth task because of lack of money and exposure.

Yet, at a time when many such musicians are struggling to get international recognition, South Africa-based businessman-cum-musician, Tasunungurwa Marisa, is making waves on Channel O and Trace Africa with his debut single “Dance”.

Released in December last year, Marisa’s video has been receiving vast airplay on the aforementioned channels.

He joins the crème de la crème of local music among them Jah Prayzah, Ammara Brown, Buffalo Souljah and Winky D who have had the honour of having their music played on the premium music channels.

Even for those big names it took a long time to get that much recognition outside Zimbabwean borders. Marisa attributed his success to fellow musician Buffalo Souljah who co-produced the song with GT Beats and directed the video.

“I’ve always had great passion for music, but it took meeting up with Buffalo Souljah and GT Beats for me to be able to share my music.

“They helped me a lot both in production and inspiring me to come out with the best I could,” he said.

Marisa is working on building both his brand and career.

“I want to be one of the top afrobeat rappers in Africa as well as grow the Marisa brand and Marisa Worldwide record label which will also sign other artists,” he said.

Though new on the music scene, Marisa believes, through hardwork and determination, he will soon grow into a household name.

He is currently working on other songs to be released from next month going forward.
