Mapeza on platinum battle Norman Mapeza

FC PLATINUM gaffer Norman Mapeza has again downplayed the significance of their top-of-the-table clash against Ngezi Platinum Stars at Baobab this afternoon. The two platinum miners have taken this year’s campaign by storm and they have both lost just once to Bulawayo Chiefs after 15 rounds of matches.

Their impressive run has separated them from the rest of other teams in the league and third-placed Highlanders trail the duo by nine points.

Given their imperious form this season, it is fair to say the one who wins the Baobab Battle could be on his way to the championship.

“I do not think this game will determine who is going to win the league, after Ngezi we have about 18 games,’’ said Mapeza.
“I think we are just fighting for three points and maybe who is going to be on top of the log come end of the day.

“Whatever result for us or Ngezi I do not think they will throw in the towel as there are still so many games to go.
“If it was the last two games of the season maybe I would say it is going to be a blockbuster in terms of the magnitude of the game.

“For now I think it is just three points at stake,” insisted Mapeza.
FC Platinum will be stimulated going into this game following their impressive 4-0 win against cross-town rivals Shabanie Mine last time out.

Ngezi Platinum Stars are banking on their solid home record.
