THE annual Manicaland Classic body-building contest will be held in Mutare tomorrow with at least 50 body-builders set to battle for silverware.
Body-builders will battle it out in a number of categories which include senior men body-building open, men’s physique open, junior men body-building, men’s fitness open and women’s bikini fitness open.
After last week’s Marume Classic, a number of top body-builders that includes Noah Dzvokora, Aaron Musarurwa, Francis Tatanga Chideme, James Tashera and Blessing “CC” Banks Sithole have already confirmed their participation. Manicaland provincial chairperson, Blessing Saunyama said they are expecting stiff competition as they fight to promote the sport in the province.
“Preparations went on well and we are expecting a huge turnout for this competition. The most important reason we are hosting this competition is that we need to promote the growth of the sport in Manicaland Province.
“We need to improve on the number of athletes and the level of competition that is why we have also opened the competition to all athletes from around the country to come and participate.
“We are very appreciative of the partners and sponsors who have come on board namely Global Brother’s Wholesale, Kaizen Pharmacy, Tinty’s Hardware,Holiday Inn, Bluetech Mart, Jade Studios Gym and Clique Pharmacy for ensuring that the competition become a success. “Due to their support we now have the prizes to give to the winners which I think will also motivate more athletes to come and participate. We are very confident that we will host a very competitive and successful tournament,” said Saunyama.
The competition was last held in 2021 with veteran hulk Nunurai Masosonere emerging the winner while Sithole winning the men’s fitness physique category
