DETECTIVES in Manicaland have launched a manhunt for three armed robbers who allegedly accosted a man who had gone to a nearby bush to relieve himself and stole his cellphone and cash, before disappearing.

Manicaland police spokesperson, Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa, confirmed the incident, which occurred in Rusape last week.

“The complainant, Zorodzai Trust Mhuriyengwe was at Truck Inn near Petrotrade service station waiting for transport to go to his farm in Marondera,” he said. “He went to a nearby bush to relieve himself and the three assailants followed him.”

Insp Kakohwa said the trio drew out knives and demanded all his valuables, including a Samsung J100 cellphone, US$71 and $300. The robbers also demanded Zorodzai’s EcoCash account pin number and transferred $350 to their mobile phones. Insp Kakohwa appealed to the public for information that could lead to the arrest of the trio.
