Man to perform community service for impersonating police officer

Mashayamombe appeared before the Kadoma Magistrates’ Court facing charges of impersonating a police officer.
He was sentenced to 12 months in prison, of which four months were suspended for five years. The remaining eight months were converted to 280 hours of community service.
The incident occurred on October 27, 2024, when Mashayamombe flagged down a Honda Fit taxi and demanded a US$10 bribe from the driver, who refused to pay.
The driver reported the incident to the police, and Mashayamombe was arrested.
During questioning, he shifted goalposts and claimed that he was a member of the Zimbabwe National Army but was unable to provide any identification to support his assertion.
