A MBARE man is battling for his life in hospital after jumping from the a fourth floor of an apartment block at  Matererini Flats in Mbare yesterday morning in a suspected case of attempted suicide.

National Police Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said he was yet to get full details on the incident.

It is, however, believed that the man attempted to kill himself after a domestic dispute.

One witnesses narrated the incident saying: “I was chatting with my neighbours when we heard a disturbing loud noise.

“When we rushed to see what was happening, we were shocked to see a man on the ground with some head injuries.

“We do not know his name and what we only heard is that he was unwell for about three days and was staying with his mother who came from South Africa recently,” said a tenant at the flat who declined to be named.

Another tenant who only identified himself as Mukoma Kuda said the man was lucky to be alive as he fell on two satellite dishes.

“He just walked out of the flat and fell on the first satellite dish which is on the second floor. It gave in and the man landed on the second dish on the first floor before he fell to the ground.

“Had it not been for the satellite dishes, he was almost certain to die. We understand he has been rushed to West End Hospital for treatment,” he said.
