The going looks good for reigning Miss Carnival Zimbabwe Dananai Chipunza, who is representing Zimbabwe at Miss Tourism International in Malaysia, after she got two notable achievements in the run-up to the grand finale that takes place tonight.Chipunza has been appointed brand ambassador for the Asian Metropolitan University in Africa in addition to coming third in a talent show at the pageant.

The university is looking at opening a branch in Southern Africa and would be launching online studies beginning of next year.
Chipunza scooped the second runner up at the talent show after reciting a poem on black African activism, which was inspired by the works of the late Nelson Mandela during the apartheid era.

Miss Tourism International contest is held to help promote tourism around the world.

Speaking to The Herald Entertainment, Chipunza said the platform was an opportunity for her to showcase the true image of the nation considering the negative publicity that it has been getting from the Western media.

“I was appointed brand ambassador for the Asian Metropolitan University in Africa and I managed to get a scholarship which is a good thing on my personal part.

“Miss Tourism International has been a great experience for me, because my participation so far has been fantastic,” she said.

Chipunza urged other models back in Zimbabwe who wish to represent the nation someday to learn about the dynamics of the people in the country, history, cultural heritage and the abundant tourist attractions.

She said it is the knowledge of these issues that make a perfect ambassador for the  nation.

The ecstatic Chipunza said she wishes to represent the country anywhere in the world with pride and honour.

“I am very happy and I hope to make the nation proud at this Miss Tourism International,” she said.

Chipunza this year was crowned the Inaugural Miss Carnival Zimbabwe where she walked away with a Mercedes Benz sponsored by Oketex Investments, US$20 000 prize money from Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, make-up kits, mobile phones from Goldtech and G-Tel, hotel vouchers and a return trip to Brazil, among many other prizes.
