LIVE BLOG: ZANU-PF NATIONAL PEOPLE’S CONFERENCE-DAY 5

1042: President Mnangagwa has arrived at Goromonzi High School the venue for the 18th annual national people’s conference. He is now touring stands of companies that are exhibiting on the sidelines of the conference.

1047: Delegates from various provinces are taking their seats in the main auditorium.

1050: President Mnangagwa is being accompanied on the tour by First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa, Vice Presidents Constantino Chiwenga and Kembo Mohadi, Zanu-PF national chairperson Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri and Women’s Affairs minister Sithembiso Nyoni.

1127: The President has completed the tour of stands and expressed satisfaction on the thrust by companies to focus on innovations especially in agriculture and ICTs.

1205: Vice Presidents Chiwenga and Mohadi enter the main venue of the conference.

1206: The President and the First Lady then follow to a rapturous applause from the crowd.

1207: Zanu PF’s chairperson Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri welcomes the delegates.

1212: She thanks the delegates for completing their reports and review of the implementation of the 2018 resolutions.

1213: Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri invites the chairperson of the Women’s League Mabel Chinomona to conduct the fashion show which has become an annual event at the conference.

1214: The models are wearing various designs of the party regalia

1222: This year there are also male contestants. The first group to contest are the youths aged between 15-35, then followed by the 35-50 group

1520: President Mnangagwa takes to the podium to give closing remarks. He says this conference is the biggest. This conference since beginning, has been done in peace and respect.

1523: “You all came from all parts of the country, with the desire to improve the quality of life. You spoke loudly over critical issues and emphasized on what needs to be addressed for the benefit of our people. Together with the party, we have listened and we shall act accordingly.”

1527: “This conference has been a decisive demonstration that ZANU PF is a party that listens to the needs of the people. As we leave, let us be guided by all our deeds, and contribute to building our economy.”

1529: “We must groom and nurture those who join us. Let’s allow them to grow in loyalty to defend the party. Let us be proactive in initiating dialogue.”

1532: “We are a revolutionary party which has proved over years that our programmes are life changing. We are the future of this country. The party continues to support the empowerment of youths and women.”

1533: “The success of our nation depends on how well we are organised and how we execute responsibilities. We must shun greediness and corruption.”

1535: “As we come to the end of this event, let us take into consideration the resolutions made. These can only be achieved if we work together as a nation, through hard work.”

1542: “As we close this Zanu-PF 18th National People’s Conference, go back home and tell people that the party is alive. Zanu-PF is united. Love one another and love your country. The Zimbabwe we want is possible and victory is certain,” he says as he concludes his remarks.
