PRESIDENT Mnangagwa is a champion of women’s empowerment and the party can only repay him through working together towards realising his vision to make Zimbabwe an upper-middle-class economy by 2030.

This emerged yesterday at the Zanu PF Women’s League indaba held at the revolutionary party headquarters in Harare where the wing called for unity and urged members to remain vigilant against some G40 elements trying to destabilise the party.

Speaking at the Zanu PF Women’s League launch of the roadrunner chicken project, the league’s boss, Cde Mabel Chinomona, said women should support President Mnangagwa’s empowerment initiatives which seek to ensure that no one and no place is left behind in terms of development.

The meeting was attended by Women’s League executive members from Mashonaland East, Mashonaland Central, Harare and Mashonaland West provinces.

Cde Chinomona said women should play a role in building the economy through engaging in various empowerment projects in support of President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030 to make Zimbabwe an upper middle-class economy.

“You should take the project seriously. No one will be left behind under the Second Republic. We want to see everyone participating in reviving the economy. We want to export meat to foreign markets and earn the country the much-needed foreign currency,” said Cde Chinomona.

She warned the league not to allow G40 remnants to infiltrate their structures using money.

“We are receiving reports from various provinces of some G40 remnants who are causing disharmony in the party’s restructuring exercise. They want to grab senior positions so that they will push for their agendas.

“Do not allow them to contest for any senior position. They should follow the party’s constitution. We do not chase them away. We want them in the party, but they should not destabilise the party,” she said.

Women’s League Secretary for Administration, who is also the Minister of Information, Publicity, and Broadcasting Services Cde Monica Mutsvangwa called upon members to rally behind President Mnangagwa’s empowerment initiatives.

“We want five million votes in the next harmonised elections. We should not fight each other on petty issues hence there is a need to ensure peace prevails in the current restructuring exercise,” said Cde Mutsvangwa.

Deputy national political commissar Cde Omega Hungwe challenged the league’s top executive members to allow the young generations to contest for senior positions for continuity during the party restructuring exercise.
