Let Zimbabwe run its election please! The opposition tried to politicise the voter’s roll inspection last week

Our elections are on August 23 and Zimbabwe being Zimbabwe, the foreign political vultures are already in circulation over the country sponsoring talk that discredits the elections before they are even held.

The opposition CCC has since the proclamation of the election dates, gone overdrive to discredit the elections and the obvious handlers are on the prowl.

Their take is to start with the Voters Roll and make a case for a contested election. This is very unfortunate.

To date, the Government has followed the Electoral Act to the dot and it is regrettable that the opposition wants to discredit election before they are even held.

It is fact not fiction, that in any game, a losing team complains before the game is even played and CCC is aware that it is losing this election fairly and freely.

The New Dispensation under President Mnangagwa has done far too much to ensure the country remains peaceful and also to ensure that the country holds free and fair elections.

All and sundry should be grateful to all the efforts put by the Government which has religiously followed every procedure required to hold free and fair elections.

The whole hullabaloo about elections being rigged in advance is the work of an opposition in sixes and sevens about how to compete with an experienced, tried and tested ruling party that has done far too well to lead this country into the future.

Look at the number of new projects implemented in the past five years; from the upgrading of Beitbridge Border Post and the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport to several dams and irrigation schemes, among others.

Look at the Manhize Steel Plant, the Acadia Lithium Mine, look at the rehabilitation of the Harare-Beitbridge Highway and the Mbudzi Interchange, they all speak to the good work of the Zanu PF Government. The projects speak for themselves.

For starters, all progressive thinkers were recently taken aback when the United States Embassy in Harare was posturing on our election, shortly before the proclamation of the election dates.

That is serious interference which should not be tolerated at all. The US should be ashamed of this. Democracy is not their own preserve.

Zimbabwe is not a province of the United States and it is nauseating, for lack of better diction, that the US Embassy in Harare sees it fit to meddle in our elections.

As usual, the US Embassy is displaying the dangerous big brother mentality that has catapulted it into conflicts with many progressive thinking countries in the world.

At the moment the US should concentrate on working on its own flawed electoral processes that has seen them arrest former President Donald Trump on trumped up charges, because he is the main political rival for President Biden.

Zimbabwe has never arrested CCC president Nelson Chamisa, but still the US raises red flag on our elections. How brazen?

The US has many issues on its table and should contrite on those rather than interfere in Zimbabwe’s elections. We all know how the Republican Oversight Committee chaired by James Comer, found out how Joe Biden, has corruptly amassed huge family wealth using his political muscle.

The report from an investigation that started more than a year ago, falls short of saying Biden has become a national security threat and unfit for the office of the President.

Biden, they said, is compromised and unfit to rule.

“Members of the Biden family have a pattern of peddling access to the highest levels of government to enrich themselves, often to the detriment of US interests.

“We committed to following the Biden family and associates’ money trail – consisting of many complex, international transactions worth millions of dollars – and providing answers to the American people. The American people deserve to know whether the President’s connections to his family’s business deals occurred at the expense of American interests and whether they represent a national security threat.

“Evidence obtained by Committee Republicans reveals that Joe Biden lied to the American people about his involvement in his family’s business schemes, including exploits by his son Hunter Biden in Ukraine.

“The Biden family business model is built on Joe Biden’s political career and connections with Joe Biden as the ‘chairman of the board.’ Biden family members sold access for profit around the world to the detriment of American interests”.

So, the US should concentrate on cleaning the Biden mess and his interference in the political conflicts of other countries and let Zimbabwe run its own elections.

Zimbabwe has the capacity to run its elections and we do not need outsiders to lecture to us about has we should run our elections.

These elections are being run at a time when Zanu PF government has shown that it will always religiously stick to the country’s constitution.

Zimbabwe is a constitutional democracy and President Mnangagwa has shown everyone in the world that he is a democrat, and a law abiding President.

Every political party in Zimbabwe has been govern its constitutional right to follow and participate in the election in accordance with the law.

The US and its allies must let Zimbabwe run its elections without interference. It does not make any sense to think that the US, which has many bloody hands wants to tell Zimbabwe what to do.

Zimbabwe is a leader in the region in terms of its politics and we all know how the US and its allies are trying day and night to rubbish our elections as a way to continue with their sanctions regime.

They are preparing the ground for a contested election because they know CCC is losing.
