Lawyer Panganayi Hare has ventured into music with a debut album titled “Mbuva Yehwiza” that carries exciting sungura tracks.

The six-track album shows the artistic side of Hare who has been involved with music for a long time as a promoter.

Hare is credited with taking some of the popular musicians for mega shows in Bulawayo where he was based a few years ago.

He mainly worked with Alick Macheso, Tongai Moyo and Simon Chimbetu to bring colour to Bulawayo showbiz.

He is also known for introducing the late Beatar Mangethe to mainstream showbiz, including facilitating her professional relationship with Macheso, which culminated into the duo’s collaboration titled “Mafaro”.

To exhibit his perfect working relationship with various musicians, Hare collaborated with Somandla Ndebele on a track titled “Mariah”, which is on the new album.

He also did the album with the aim of empowering female singers as shown by his song “Panganayi” that features Ethel Musunza.

Ethel is given the honour to do lead vocals on the first song on the album. Her voice brings a new dimension to sungura. Female lead vocals are uncommon in sungura and the track offers a refreshing vibe.

“Panganayi” is a song about a woman who implores her husband not to take her love for granted after the man apparently boasts of having many lovers in many parts of the country.

It promises to be a hit. It also brings to fore the chanting talent of Gift “Shiga Shiga” Katulika, who does animation towards the end of the track.

Shiga Shiga is among talented musicians that Hare worked with on the album. They include Spencer Khumulani, Mathew Perego and Takauya Karikodzi, all from Utakataka Express.

Other outstanding names are drummer Obert Gomba and guitarist Innocent Mjintu, who previously worked with Macheso.

Also on vocals is Musaope Nkoma, who previously worked with Macheso and Dhewa. He is currently working with Tendai Dembo.

Another exciting track to look forward to is “Zvibatwa”, which discourages people from harming each other through witchcraft. The song narrates that many family problems are a result of witchcraft and urges people to love each other instead of being perpetual  enemies.

“Mariah”, featuring Somandla, has a good introduction that has a few reggae notes and ushers in a sungura beat that is likely to appeal to mature music followers. It explores the old style of love when gifts were still traditional belongings and artefacts.

He also gives examples of wild fruits as gifts that could make a lover happy in years gone by. He contrasts the old ways of love to the current era of social media craze.

The final advice on the track, which has Ndebele’s voice, urges people to be faithful to one partner in love.

“Jojo naJojina” is a fast-paced song that speaks to people based in the Diaspora encouraging them to always remember their roots and invest back home to avoid embarrassment when the need to return home arises.

“Zvinonganonga” and “Mandirengerera” complete the album. All the tracks give a listener something to marvel about and music lovers will definitely be spoilt for choice.

Hare, who is now based in Harare, said the album is an answer to his passion for music.

“Many people know me as a promoter. That side showed my love for music that has grown into this studio release. I am not doing this for competition or for money, it is a hobby that defines who I am in social space. I love music and this album speaks to a part of me that gets satisfied when anything musical happens around me,” said Hare.

“Most people that have listened to this album say they are surprised that I could come up with such a product in the studio. I am happy with the response so far and I hope ‘Mbuva Yehwiza’ will show people how much I love music.”
