POLICE today said disciplinary measures had been finalised with regards corruption allegations implicating Commissioner Oliver Chibage and other officers.

This follows reports that police are investigating a slew of corrupt deals involving senior officers who have been using Commissioner General Augustine Chihuri’s name to fleece people and companies of their money.

Addressing a press conference in Harare today chief police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba confirmed the developments.

“With regards to the issue concerning Commissioner Chibage, the organisation wishes to settle this matter once and for all,”

She said following the allegations levelled against the senior officers, they looked into the issues of Loice Shekede and Omega Chatyoka.

Snr Asst Comm Charamba said the matter concerning Loice Shekede was a deceased (Brian Rhodes)’s estate which was being handled by the High Court with Honey and Blackenburg representing the accused.

“The involvement of Commissioner Chibage and others in all these cases is a matter which falls in the purview of police discipline which has already been handled under the Police Act and the matter has been finalised.

“As such we take note of the interest of others who might be within the organisation and in particular the private media who went into over-drive baying for the blood of Chibage,” Snr Asst Comm Charamba said.

“We wish to advise them as follows, that the action taken by the police is commensurate to the involvement of the said officers.”
