ORGANISERS of the UK-Versus-Africa boxing extravaganza have cleared the air surrounding the visiting team’s accommodation challenges in the country. The Kwese Sports and Kalakoda Promotions-sponsored fiesta is pencilled for Harare International Conference Centre on Friday night.

Team UK arrived in the country on Monday for the jamboree led by their captain Stacey Copeland who will take on South Africa’s Mapula Ngubane for the Commonwealth title.

But the much-hyped contest had its build-up blemished on Monday night after Copeland expressed dissatisfaction over their living conditions at a Harare hotel.

“We’re in Zimbabwe! 30 hours travel through three countries, my luggage hasn’t made it, we have no hot water, and my room has no lights but we’ve done a pads session, looked around the venue and we are here to win the title no matter what!

“Thanks to @ sportstoursint for our ace kit” read the post on Twitter.

The message drew mixed reactions and there were questions about how an international team could be put in a hotel where, as Copeland claims, had no water or power.

Kwese Sports confirmed the glitch but said everything was sorted out and Team UK were now readying themselves for the Friday event.
