Recent claims by former Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs, Kudakwashe Bhasikiti, that ZANU-PF is a “wicked regime” should not be tolerated, but should be totally dismissed with contempt. Bhasikiti, who is a political reject from the ruling party, ZANU-PF, is now trying all possible means to gain relevance in the political arena by making unwarranted noises. Bhasikiti was expelled from the revolutionary party after it discovered that he was fanning factionalism in Masvingo Province and also linked to a putschist cabal led by the disgraced former Vice President Joice Mujuru.
What is most astonishing is that Bhasikiti only got to have his Damascean moment that the ruling party is wicked after his expulsion. Contrary to his now statements, Bhasikiti has been to court several times challenging ZANU-PF’s decision on his expulsion. Bhasikiti has been saying ZANU-PF’s ruling on his fate was null and void. His court challenge depicts a man who is still interested in being a member of the ruling party. However, Bhasikiti tasted sour grapes, hence calling the revolutionary party a ‘wicked regime’.
Honestly, how can one challenge his/her dismissal from a political party that he/she calls wicked?
The High Court’s ruling on the former Mwenezi East Member of Parliament is quite heartening. The man was ordered to go and form his own political party. However, it is common knowledge that forming a political party after being thrown out of the ruling party will not bear any fruit. So, forming a political party or a coalition with other political rejects will be nothing but a meeting of has-beens.
Bhasikiti should know that useless political forces desperately trying to clutch at straws and gripping at each other for survival will not produce anything sensible but repeated political failures as proven by history. Even if Bhasikiti had attempted to file his papers to contest as an independent candidate for the Mwenezi East Constituency by-election, his victory would only had been a fantasy. What the electorate wants is representatives who have the interest of people at heart. Since its inception, ZANU-PF’s big policy is to cater for the needs and interests of the people. The truth is, if the electorate voted for Bhasikiti in previous years it was because he was in the ruling party. The electorate needs a party which has viable policies that empowers them.
The fact that Mwenezi East Constituency is a ZANU-PF stronghold area, all opposition political parties including Bhasikiti could not file their nomination papers and chickened out of the by-election. It is pleasing that Cde Joshua Moyo from the ZANU-PF automatically became the new Member of Parliament for Mwenezi East Constituency. Cde Moyo filed his nomination papers unopposed.
It is known that all the funds that were donated by Westerners to the so-called ‘People First’ passed through Bhasikiti’s hands. This is the major reason why Bhasikiti is still persisting visiting the courts on cases that he knows he won’t win. He was sponsored by the western community to prop up their intended agenda of regime change. Also, one will not deny the fact that Bhasikiti is seeking publicity for the embattled People First project which is failing to take off because of spineless leaders who are being pushed to take its reins. What is more is interesting is that Bhasikiti lacks war credentials. Real freedom fighters respect their leaders and the people who surround them. As I grew up, my grandmother used to tell me that respecting your leaders and other people is a virtue. The same should apply to Mr Bhasikiti. One would wonder where this man is getting the guts to nonsensically tell President Mugabe to resign.
It is also saddening that Bhasikiti’s political background is full of offenses. In 2008, the former Mwenezi East legislator was accused for distributing farm implements through improper channels. It is known that distribution of farm equipment in rural districts is done by the District Administrators. Nevertheless, because of greediness, Bhasikiti wanted himself and his followers to benefit more. It was said that Bhasikiti distributed the farm equipment to only a few of his cronies and pocketed the rest.
Lastly, Bhasikiti should just shut his mouth. Recently, he was claiming that a young lady wanted to abduct him. Honestly, why should he be abducted? It is quite humorous that Bhasikiti accuses such a young lady that she wanted to kidnap him? He should be reminded that there is freedom of movement in Zimbabwe. Surely, one would question if there is a restriction that prohibits a person to travel from place to place or from Glen-View to Borrowdale in particular?
Instead, the police force should charge Bhasikiti for capturing this innocent soul to a police station for no apparent reason.
