JOHANNESBURG. — Willard Katsande swept the Kaizer Chiefs’ end-of-the-season awards here on Wednesday night.
Bute pocketed R230 000 in prize money after taking home most of the awards presented on the night, including the Player and Players’ Player of the Year honours.
He also won a car.
“It was my big night as an individual to win these awards and especially at a team like Chiefs, I will cherish this for the rest of my life,” said Katsande.

“I’m humbled with the support I got from Chiefs fans; I just want to thank them for everything they have done for me from day one up until now.
“I’m looking forward to next season and next season I just want to be consistent.”

His teammate Knowledge Musona, who won the Goal of the Season award, looks set to stay at Chiefs despite interest from champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
“I made it clear from the beginning when I came back that my aim is to go back to Europe and, if not, I would stay here at Kaizer Chiefs. I won’t go to any other club here in South Africa,” said Musona.

“No, no, no, no . . . I know money is part of football, but the main thing is to go to a team where you can play regularly, where you are wanted and improve your career as a player. That is more important for me than money.

“I can say I’m happy at Chiefs and I’m not looking forward to go to any local club. This is my home team, my first professional club as a player, and they are the ones who made me the person I am.

“I grew up at Chiefs and I’m not going to change my mind and go for money,”
Another Zimbabwean striker Nyasha Mushekwi could be back in South Africa soon after bidding farewell to KV Oostende fans.
The 26-year-old has one year left on his contract at Chloorkop.

“Will always love u Oostende, thank u for the little time we shared,” Mushekwi tweeted. “It was great season for the team and wish you well going forward. Will miss you.”
