REVERED muscleman and bodybuilder Vincent “Vince Cutter” Kandiero is expected to make a return to the podium as he seeks to defend the rebranded Chloride Zimbabwe Exide Harare Classic title at Zimbabwe College of Music in Harare today.

Kandiyero will be on the stage against top athletes who include reigning Manicaland and Bulawayo champions Nunurai Masosonere and Lovemore Munyamana.

The battle between the three for the coverted US$1 000 Senior men bodybuilding title will be one to look forward to with many enthusiasts saying it will be a clash of the titans.  Harare Classic rebranded this year as Chloride Zimbabwe, through their Exide Battery brand, becomes the title sponsors.

Exide have been partnering several sports codes this year as they had the Exide half-marathon and the Exide Rugby 7s series this year. Also expected to make his presence felt is 2012 All Africa junior bodybuilding champion Noah Dzvokora.

Reigning Arnold Classic Africa Men’s Physique over 178cm champion Blessing “CC Banks” Sithole, who is fresh from winning at the Manicaland Classic, is also in contention.  The Harare Classic will have several categories like Senior men bodybuilding, Men’s Physique, Men’s Fitness, Women Bikini Fitness and Junior Men Bodybuilding.

Event co-ordinator, Tarirai Chirume, said they are happy with the sponsors who came on board and is looking forward to a successful event as the athletes were hungry for shows.

“I think we are getting somewhere as the lockdown has erased all hope on the sport but now everyone can continue to work hard as there are some contests coming in.

“I am grateful to all the sponsors who came on board to see this all is in place for the last tournament of the year to be staged, which will give bodybuilders an opportunity to be on the podium before the end of the year,” said Marume.
