Police recently recovered electric gadgets worth thousands of dollars when two suspected housebreakers were arrested in Kadoma. The recovered goods included television sets, several cellphones, laptops, DVD players and a sound system.

According to a statement on the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) website, it is believed that the activities of the two suspects, who operated at night, were concentrated in Ngezi, Rimuka and other surrounding areas. The duo, according to the police, was in the habit of breaking doors or forcing windows open to access the targeted property.

Police in Kadoma have since urged members of the public, who have reported cases of unlawful entry and theft to visit ZRP Rimuka to positively identify their properties or to contact (068) 26111 or call Officer in Charge (Rimuka) on 0772723856 or 0716618342.

Meanwhile, police in Mashonaland West Province are still looking for a finance assistant with the ZRP, who is on the run after diverting about $90 000 meant to pay officers, who participated in the Biometric Voter Registration programme into his own account.

Sergeant Lameck Karombo, who works at the Mashonaland West provincial headquarters, transferred the money from the police account into his Agribank account. Some of the money was withdrawn. Police only managed to recover $13 000 from his account.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is appealing for anyone with information of the whereabouts of Lameck Karombo ( NR 63-1324194Z84) who is wanted in connection with a case of fraud involving money amounting to $90 000,” said the police force.

“On 21 December 2017, the suspect transferred a total of $90 000 from ZRP Mashonaland West Provincial Account into his personal bank account.”

Whistle blowers are being urged to report to the nearest police station or to call CID Commercial Crimes Division Northern Region on 04-753545 or Police General Headquarters on 04-703631.
