Mashonaland Central Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Senator Monica Mavhunga has handed over 16 500 doses of the Covid-19 vaccines to Bindura Hospital for further distribution to all parts of the province.

She said the province is aiming to immunise about 8 000 frontline personnel.

Senator Mavhunga said the immunisation programme presents an early opportunity for the province and country to get back to normalcy.
Eighty-one people have succumbed to the disease in the province while 1662 were infected since the emergence of the pandemic in the country.

Two medical teams will move around in the province for the next 10 days with the immunisation programme. The provincial medical director Dr Clemence Tshuma received the first jab of the vaccine at Bindura Provincial Hospital.
