CHAIRMAN of Raasi Group of Companies from India is in the country with a view to partnering First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa and her Angel of Hope Foundation on a number of projects to economically empower women and youths countrywide.

Mr Chandra Narasimhan, who is also the president of Indian Solar Association and Indian Battery Association, said Raasi Group of Companies sought to partner the First Lady’s humanitarian efforts owing to the various works she is undertaking to uplift the underprivileged, women and youths.

He said they intend to invite the mother of the nation to their country to see for herself some of the projects they were involved in which they also intend to introduce in the country through the Angel of Hope Foundation.

Raasi group of companies, Mr Narasimhan said, is actively involved in community-based programmes and women and youth empowerment. 

The organisation, which has been following the First Lady’s works, has since published an interesting booklet titled “Mother of the Nation-Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa and her Angel of Hope Foundation” which highlights the First Lady’s philanthropic journey.

The group chairperson said they intended to invite the First Lady to launch the booklet in India. 

“Just as we are doing in India, the First Lady is doing wonderful things here in Zimbabwe. She has been working hard to empower mostly the marginalised communities. 

“In short, she has delivered a lot and that caught our attention.”

“She is into empowerment of disadvantaged groups and is accessible even by those who are looked down upon by the society. Her influence and hard work have even reached my country such that we have since published a booklet in her honour chronicling her various charity works,” he said.

Mr Narasimhan said his group was willing to partner Angel of Hope Foundation and render support to the organisation whenever needed.

He is in the country assessing the Angel of Hope Foundation’s projects and see how best they could assist. 

“I am happy to have engaged the First Lady and we presented her with the booklet which we will invite her to launch in India. 

“From our group, every year we introduce self-help projects for women and this year’s project, 20 000 underprivileged women will benefit from it. We want to invite the First Lady to India to also launch this year’s project which we named Mother Theresa policy. 

“We want to partner her in skills development programmes for women and youths and creating international markets for the things they would be making,” he said.

The First Lady’s philanthropic works have seen various international organisations seeking to partner her due to her hard work and efforts to empower ordinary citizens.

Recently, a United Kingdom-based organisation-NCD Global Alliance which fights non-communicable diseases (NCDs) wrote to the First Lady inviting her to join their organisation as NCD champion in recognition of her unwavering efforts to ensure citizens are screened and commenced on treatment early for various ailments.

The international partnerships show that the works Amai Mnangagwa is doing in the country is receiving recognition globally.

Also in recognition of her philanthropic work and assistance to the less privileged in Zimbabwe, the First Lady was elected Vice President of the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD).
