President Mnangagwa has reiterated that he is a listening President and a people’s servant ready to deliver a new Zimbabwe desired by all citizens. Addressing thousands of Zanu-PF supporters at the Mutare Aerodrome open space near Sakubva Stadium on Friday last week, President Mnangagwa said the people were the custodians of power and leaders should work to fulfil the aspirations of the masses.

“Wherever I go, I am saying I am a listening President,” he said. “I am a servant President. Imi vanhu you are the power behind authority. All the people here on the top table draw their power from you.

“Even my power comes from you after your Central Committee of Zanu-PF resolved to expel those members of the G40 cabal that was causing problems in the party and Government. The power of the people becomes the will of God.

“All the leaders you see here are your servants. If you see even Minister Mutsvangwa whom I appointed as your minister here or your provincial chairman (Cde Mike) Madiro bragging that we are chefs, say to them be warned.”

President Mnangagwa said Zanu-PF was developing a new culture of respect where the will of the people should be followed.
“We are developing a culture of respect, a culture where the leadership should become subservient to the people,” he said. “Anyone who diverts from that culture we dismiss them.”

In the same breath, President Mnangagwa said the new dispensation had opened the democratic space where everyone was free to express themselves politically.

He said the new dispensation resolved that the coming elections should be credible and be held in a peaceful environment.
As a result, for the first time in the history of elections in Zimbabwe, the country is having 23 presidential candidates contesting in the harmonised elections on Monday next week.

“When we conducted our primary elections, we brought democracy in the party,” said President Mnangagwa. “We opened democratic space in the country.

“From time immemorial, we used to have a few parties in the country, but when the new dispensation, that was explained by Vice President (Constantino) Chiwenga came, we created democracy in Zimbabwe and now we have 133 political parties in the country.

“Anyone who desires to form a political party they are free to do so, but Zanu-PF is everywhere with one ideology of unity and development.

“In the forthcoming elections, out of 133 parties, 55 are contesting in the elections that we are going to have in the next 10 days. Out of the 55 parties, 23 have forwarded candidates for the Presidency.”

President Mnangagwa said Zanu-PF was going to win resoundingly in the coming elections.
He said with Zanu-PF, the country was in safe hands.
