A lot has been said about some of the talent shows hosted in Zimbabwe, but all the same some still adore South Africa’s Idols reality show.

Idols is a television show on the South African television network M-Net, based on the popular British show Pop Idol with American Idol following suit.

The show is a contest to determine the best young singer in South Africa.

Good news is that some of the show organisers who are based in the United Kingdom, according to some speculation, are planning to bring the show to Zimbabwe. Contacted for comment by Herald Entertainment, Ke-Nako Media official Peter Gwaza could neither confirm nor deny the rumours.

“Due to the nature of the information requested from myself and the Ke Nako Media team, we have seen the need to hold a Press conference at our headquarters based in Borrowdale. This Press conference will provide an opportunity for all necessary and relevant questions and information to be accessed and answered so that you are equipped with all the correct information. It will also encourage engagement and valuable interaction between Ke Nako Media and other notable media houses in Harare and other parts of the country.

“Therefore, the conference will be arranged for this week: date and time are yet to be confirmed. Once we have the full details on the Press conference, an invitation will be sent to you,” said Gwaza.

Meanwhile, some fanatics had to pull down their posts on social media as it was now trending with people ready for the show. For a start, the show needs to be aired on M-Net channel because that is its trademark, with auditions being conducted in different provinces.

We wait to see how the Zimbabwean version will be like. MultiChoice Zimbabwe publicist Liz Dziva said they haven’t received any information pertaining to the development.

“We are still waiting to hear from the responsible authorities if such a thing is happening. But if it is a yes that we have those developments then that is good for Zimbabwe,” she said.

Vincent Bones was the winner of Idols SA Season 10 last year.
