STATE-owned development finance institution (DFI) Infrastructure Development Bank of Zimbabwe (IDBZ) intends to develop residential stands for accommodation earmarked for Gwanda, Spitzkop and Plumtree towns.

All-encompassing IDBZ will construct 1299 housing units with Gwanda Doelfontein and Spitzkop earmarked for 1000 and 133 high density units respectively whilst a low density suburb with 166 units will be constructed in Plumtree.

The bank is seeking consultancy services which will cover design of surface roads, storm water drainage, water and sewerage reticulation, topographical, cadastral surveys, electricity reticulation and public lighting and water pumping mains.

Additionally, the experts shall conduct an environment and social impact assessment, geotechnical investigations to enable adequate structural design for the service infrastructure.

In a tender notice published in the media, the state-owned bank said the minimum requirements for short-listing will include traceable references from well-established organisations including registration with Procurement and Regulation Authority of Zimbabwe.

“The project comprises two sites with 133 residential stands for Spitzkop, 1000 for Gwanda Doelfontein high density residential stands and 166 low density residential stands and the site is located 2kms from Plumtree CBD,” said IDBZ.

“The consulting firm must be a registered entity with procurement regulatory authority of Zimbabwe (PRAZ) with a minimum of fifteen years of experience for each individual consultancy firm singularly or in the consortium and clearly state their years of experience in each relevant area of specialisation in.”

The bank recently revealed interest to raise fresh capital of $1billion through partial privatisation aimed at recapitalisation of the bank.

IDBZ is a development finance institution (DFI) established through the IDBZ Act to champion sustainable infrastructure development in Zimbabwe through mobilisation of resources, capacity building, knowledge generation and sharing in support of national efforts for inclusive socio- economic development.

Its mandate focuses on development of infrastructure in energy, transport, sanitation, ICT and housing sectors.
