THE integration of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) is poised to revolutionise healthcare delivery in Zimbabwe, ICT, Postal and Courier Services Minister Tatenda Mavetera has said.
Speaking at the launch of the Salutem International Medical Aid Fund in Harare, Minister Mavetera said ICT has the potential to enhance healthcare competitiveness, improve accessibility and reduce financial burdens for patients.

She said by leveraging ICT-based innovations, the Government aims to create a healthcare system that is efficient, equitable and patient-centered.

“It is imperative that we harness the power of technology to build a healthier Zimbabwe,” said Minister Mavetera.

“By promoting ICT literacy and infrastructure development, we can ensure that everyone, regardless of their location or socio-economic status, has the opportunity to benefit from quality healthcare.”

Mr Ruka Nyoka, managing director of Salutem, said the Government seeks to improve healthcare accessibility.

“Our goal is to make healthcare more affordable and accessible for all Zimbabweans,” he said.

“By leveraging the latest technological advancements, we can provide real-time support and streamline medical services.”

With increasing internet penetration and a growing number of active data subscriptions, Zimbabwe is well-positioned to capitalise on ICT to transform its healthcare landscape.

The Government and private sector are collaborating to create a future where technology plays a pivotal role in improving the health and well-being of the nation.
