HYPER Jet won the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services Goodwill Trust Charity horse race meeting at Borrowdale racecourse over the weekend. The feature event, was for runners aged three years and it saw Hyper Jet from the Penny Fisher yard taking the top spot.

Fisher’s yard dominated the small field that had five runners as they also claimed the second sport with Scribblers who was four lengths behind stable mate Hyper Jet. The 1 200m Jacaranda Free Handicap and the 1 600m Tote Free Handicap are part of the lead up to the three-year-old Classics in 2019.

Six runners faced the starter on Saturday – four of whom have been meeting and beating each other as two-year-olds last year. It was difficult to predict the winner but the 1200 meter Champion Juvenile Stakes, won by Rain Spider on June 17, was good a pointer.

That race was run at set weights with colts and geldings carrying 58 kgs and fillies 55.5 kgs. Street Party from the Bridget Stidolph yard come out third and had Brendon McNaughton as the pilot and they got the better of Red Pollard also from the Stidolph stable by 1, 25 lengths.
