ONE of Harare’s most vibrant social football teams, Hustlers 11, will this weekend celebrate their fourth anniversary by holding a sporting gala at Raylton Sports Club.

The gala is expected to be a massive event with over five social football clubs and celebrated Star FM DJs Pathisani and KVG set to take part.

Some of the teams scheduled to grace this one-day social football fiesta include Christ Embassy, Panjap, Tedra, IDBZ and Ajax.

Hustlers 11 chairman Tinashe Gukushu said the gala was meant to promote social interactions and entertainment for the local football-loving people.

“We realised that football and music play an important part in people’s lives, especially in terms of creating social interactions and also promoting good health in people,’’ said Gukushu.

“Most of the people will have nothing to do on weekend and we think that this will be the platform for them to enjoy through social football and music entertainment.

“So, we are having eight teams battling for trophies and medals and, after that, we will have DJs that include Pathisani and KVG also providing entertainment for the people.”

Gukushu hailed the event’s sponsors — Spot On Towing & Recovery Company — for promoting social sport in the country.

“We are happy and honoured by the assistance given by our local firm Spot On Towing & Recovery Company in financing our event by providing necessities like ground fees, medals and trophies for the winners.’’

Spot On Towing & Recovery Company managing director Malvern Chambati said they were trying to promote social sport from the grassroots level around the country.

“We have realised that, in our quest to do our corporate responsibility programmes in the country, there was a gap in the promotion of sport, especially from grassroots level.

“So, we decided to partner social clubs around the country and help them with some financial assistance and other technical needs that they may need in promoting our sport in the country,” said Chambati.
