The Council of Veterinary Surgeons of Zimbabwe has initiated a legal process of looking for at least four councillors and registered veterinary surgeons to serve on the board for three years.

The self-regulatory body of the veterinary profession in Zimbabwe responsible for proper regulation of the practice of veterinary surgery and medicine and the improvement of veterinary services said the winning candidates were set to assume office by the beginning of next year.

In a notice published in the Government Gazette by the Registrar of Veterinary Surgeons, Dr Brian F. Chikodze, last Friday, the board wants to fill in four positions.

“It is hereby notified, in terms of Section 3 of the Veterinary Surgeons (Council Election) Regulations, 1974, published in Rhodesia Government Notice No. 142 of 1974, that an election of four registered veterinary surgeons as members of the Council of Veterinary Surgeons of Zimbabwe to serve for a period of three years, beginning on the 4th of January, 2020, is about to be held,” he said.

“Nominations to fill the vacancies are invited.”

According to Council of Veterinary Surgeons of Zimbabwe, the board comprises of the four elected councillors and two others that are appointed by the Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Climate and Rural Resettlement.
